digital visibility

These 4 things, done consistently, will help you make yourself more visible, and give you the opportunity to make an impression, by being active on LinkedIn.

  • Invite people to connect with you. Use a personal message if they don’t already know you, but never sales-pitch them. When you send a connection request, they’ll see your name for the first time.
  • Follow these people, even if they don’t connect with you. This will ensure you see their content when they post it, so that you can engage. When you hit the “follow” button, they’ll see your name for the second time.
  • Engage with content. Click the like button, and comment on pieces posted by the people who you want to make an impression on. In your comments, make sure you add value. Share content created by other people so that your audience also gets to see it, but only if your audience will find it interesting and relevant. When you engage with content, the author sees your name AND starts to get a sense of your expertise and what you have to offer.
  • Post your own helpful, informative content and tag people into images and comments. Make sure your posts are relevant to your industry and that your audience will care about and relate to it. Stay in your lane. When you tag someone into a post or image, they see your name again, and will feel special because you took the time to include them in YOUR activity.

Do these things and you will generate something I like to call digital visibility. You’ll also be able to position yourself as an expert in your field and build trust over time.
