When posting on a platform like LinkedIn, you’re doing so for the benefit of your followers.
Let that sink in for a bit.
The truth is, they’re not interested in how old your company is, or how many deals you’ve done, or about your latest promotion. They only care about things which are helpful to themselves, which solve their problems, or which can make them or their companies better.
You need to change what you’re posting, and how you’re posting to better SERVE your audience. Be helpful, educate your tribe, entertain them or inform them with useful content – whatever you do, don’t try and sell to them.
By changing your posting habits, you’ll be sure to get better engagement, start better conversations and certainly position yourself as credible, helpful and trustworthy. Only then will your tribe start rewarding you, when you do ask for something in return (like a meeting or referral).
If you’re responsible for the social media strategy for your company, encourage your employees to post responsibly (show them THIS post) so that they represent your brand in the best possible light.
